  MONTE MORELLO

Monte Morello is a large mountain that overlooks Florence from North and the Mugello valley from South and it's considered a real mountain biker's paradise. The scenic itinerary that we'll follow is entirely inside the protected area of a Natural Park.

CALVANA

The Calvana is a long chalky ridge which slopes down for over 20 km from the Apennines to the Prato plain, thus dividing Mugello from Bisenzio valley. Riding its panoramic meadows we will eventually meet horses in a natural state or wild cattle like the typical white cows called Calvanine. Once on top of Monte Maggiore, the highest peak of the ridge, we will enjoy a fantastic panoramic view at 360 degree over a large section of the Apennine Range before the final exciting downhill towards the bike tour starting point.

PASSO DEL GIOGO

We will reach this scenic 882 m. Apennine pass riding an ancient dirt road built by the Romans 1000 years ago over a preexisting Etruscan trail. Then we'll continue riding a very panoramic section of the Apennine ridge before diving into the long exciting downhill towards the plain of Borgo San Lorenzo.During the first part of this ride we'll cicle through the medieval walled town of Scarperia.

CHIANTI

Monte San Michele is the highest mountain of Chianti (882 m.) and is part of a huge natural park. Riding through the protected area of the park we'll enjoy breathtaking views over the whole region and exciting downhills through the woods that cover this mountain, ideal for mountain biking.

CAVRIGLIA NATURAL PARK

During the first part of this challenging bike ride through the high Chianti hills we'll be passing the ancient Badia Coltibuono before riding the ridge that crosses the entire Natural Park of Cavriglia, where it's not unusual to meet game like deers, bucks, fawns, mufflons and even guanos and lamas. On the second part of the ride we'll be cycling mainly downhill, passing the Albola castle and the tiny medieval village of Vertine.

BISENZIO VALLEY

Biking through the protected area of the Natural Reserve Acquerino - Cantagallo we'll be cycling across a luxuriant forest towards the sources of the river that gives its name to this beautiful valley, the Bisenzio. Then we'll ride a long section of the western ridge of the valley before descending back to the river.
